HMEK Today

The Renewable Energy Center of Hárskút (HMEK) provides employment for 50 people in renewable energy and ecological farming. We follow two paths simultaneously: on the one hand, we are working on realizing the HMEK concept, on the other hand, we take the experience gained in our earlier efforts and use it for the base of our commerical activities.

To achieve the HMEK concept, we are working on the following:

-Self-sustaining goat farm and cheese facility recently received its building permit, we’re working on the construction plans.
-The energy source for our demo park, a biogas facility, is in the permitting phase, the plans are being drafted.
-Also serving the demo park, a windmill and solar farm, grid connections plans are in progress.
-Conference center plans are being drafted.
-We are participating in several bids, the proceeds which will be used to achieve the HMEK concept.

Current business activities:

-Biomass, clearing roads and grazing fields
-Preparing windmill park projects (wind measurements, permits, choice of equipment, etc.)
-Architectural plans (energy conscious homes, subdivisions: plans and permits)
-Energy consulting services, (energy rationalization strategies, energy audits, timelines for energy investments, calculationg payback periods)
-Sale and installation of solar collector systems (institutions and residential)
